Our senior coach is Robert Kiss. He has competed at international level, representing Hungary in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he came 4th and in the 1996 Atlanta Games where he finished 5th. He was the Hungarian national foil champion seven times.

He took his degree at the Hungarian University of Physical Education in 1998 and has since received his Diploma as Fencing Master at all three weapons from the University of Budapest.

He coached at the well-known Vasas Club in Budapest for six years before being invited by the British Fencing Association (BFA) to come to England and support fencing in the North-West

He has adopted the successful Hungarian fencing system and has been developing it to suit the communities in which he now works. Whilst retaining the discipline and standards of the traditional system using modern teaching methods in line with those promoted by Sport England and Sports Coach UK.

Under his direction Salle Kiss has produced several national fencers one of his pupils, Ahmed Rosowsky, has been chosen for the Olympic Pathway and he has also represented GBR in the World Junior Championships. His brother Husayn has also represented GBR in the World Cadet Championships. Sophie Mason and Matthew Fitton were selected to represent England in the Marathon de Fleuret Under-15 international competition in 2007 and, along with Alexandra Fitton have been selected to represent England again in 2008, as part of the Tomorrow's Achievers initiative.

However, he is responsible for promoting fencing more widely than a single club. He also coaches at one of the other successful North-West clubs, Manchester Fencing Club. He provides additional coaching for fencers from throughout the region at the North-West Squad Club. He is recognised as a national coach for the BFA acts as a coach for the English Fencing Tomorrow's Achievers.

For more dedicated fencers he runs a training course in Hungary each summer.

Finally, he is one of the joint organisers of the only open competition for under-17 fencers in the UK, the Manchester Cadet International Tournament.
